Nancy Balyeat
Water Color Artist
"People used to ask me if I ever ran out of ideas to paint. Far from it. I paint every day in my head."
Nancy Balyeat is a nationally known watercolor artist who hides verses in every painting; she began her artistic career at the age of 16 at the 1974 World's Fair in Spokane, Washington. After finishing high school and getting married, she toured most of the United States with her husband, showing in art shows, fairs, and private shows in various parts of the country. Loving variety, she hasn't limited herself to one subject. Nancy sketched as they traveled, and in true artist fashion, she pictured everything as paintings that she hadn't painted yet.
People used to ask her if she ever ran out of ideas to paint, to which she would respond: "Far from it. I paint every day in my head."
Nancy currently resides in North Dakota with her husband after calling Montana their home for several decades. She stays busy being a full-time grandmom and building relationships with her grown children.
We sincerely trust you will enjoy her story and artwork and pass it on!
Nancy didn't limit herself to one subject but has captured in inspiring watercolor sceneries, majestic wildlife, beautiful florals, historic lighthouses, and more.

Aspirations, Reality & Retirement
Over thousands of paintings ago, Bob encouraged me to paint pictures for him to sell, and God anointed the artwork. It became a witnessing tool that spread to nearly all 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii, and spilled over into other countries, including Canada, England, Italy, Spain, Australia, Norway, and Germany. I even interpreted the hidden verses into Spanish and Italian.
We traveled and sold in art shows held in malls, state fairs, parks, civic centers, swap meets, and farmers' markets from Seattle to Miami.
We went to international gift and trade shows in Phoenix, Denver, Dallas, and Atlanta.
Bob hired reps in the east while he repped the western states. My work sold in well over 1000 retail stores, including one order from Disney Land, which they returned because they didn't realize the verses were based on the Bible. But we were consoled by a large order from Yellowstone National park that became a regular account.
This success was incredible for such podunk people as we are. But the heart and soul of what God did was in personally touching the lives of people worldwide and building many relationships out of those travels that are still with me. He supplied our daily bread beyond our imagination to raise a family of nine children.
Join me on my journey and discover the hardships and joys that shaped Hidden Verse Art that I will leave behind as part of my legacy.
